should it be a disablity?

Rather your thoughts on addiction are disease, or choice should it be considered a disability like other disabilities, such as mental or physical disabilities?
The term ‘disability’ means, with respect to an individual

 (a)a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of such individual;
 (b)a record of such impairment; or
 (c)being regarded as having such an impairment.

the fact that addiction can be dibilitating is true, but unlike many impairments addiction can be stopped an treated, most can't be stopped.

  • Substance Addiction Disorders --  The disorder of addiction involves the progression of acute drug use to the development of drug-seeking behavior, the vulnerability to relapse, and the decreased, slowed ability to respond to naturally rewarding stimuli.

  • addiction has been regcognized as a disablity, but is it right?
    How is something that is 100% treateable be considered a disablity?
    How can soemting that can wind someone up it jail, be a disability?
